we heart these bridesmaids dresses from Boden. x

I know that I might be ever so slightly biased, but I'm so excited about the latest range of Boden party dresses.  They're perfect wedding attire whether you're a guest or a bridesmaid and priced pretty reasonably for the quality and detail..

This beautiful cream broderie shift dress is my 'on-a-budget' bridal option.  I would definitely consider this at a registry ceremony.

I think the whole world has had a slight Zooey Deschanel obsession of late, me included (I've had a Zooey-inspired fringe cut in!) and the below dress reminds me of the one she wore in 500 Days Of Summer, right down to the pale blue shade.

Do you agree?  It also comes in this rose colour:

If you're a fan of the ruched front detailing but minus the sleeves, then I think this below dress is perfect:
I actually spotted an extremely similar version in D&G on Bond Street which had a cream grosgrain sash.  This would be my personal choice for summer wedding bridesmaids- it can be worn with straps or without...

and it comes in orchid pink and this fresh leaf green:

My absolute favourite is this 50s floral print prom dress...
I don't have any weddings to go to this year (sadly- can someone I know please sort that out?!) otherwise this would have been perfect!  I also think it's a very pretty option for bridesmaids in an English country wedding...

And for an evening 'do' this navy sequin dress could be great to dance the night away in...
It's not so over the top that you would upstage the bride, but there's just enough dazzling 'wow' about it that you'd turn heads!  It's a little on the expensive side but I think that this is a wardrobe staple.  It could work now with tights, on a summers evening and later in the year for those Christmas parties- costs per wear means that it's actually pretty reasonable!  And as it's from Boden's Limited range you'll be less likely to find anyone else wearing the same!

we heart some bridesmaids suggestions. x

so I've been doing a bit of bridesmaids shopping for you..

with the british summer making an appearance over the past few weeks, I'm feeling some of these pretty high street dress suggestions:

these pretty white h&m dresses are from the well advertised 'Conscious Collection' which I'm actually really impressed with- there's some great pieces in there (amongst the polyester..!). I can't tell you whether it's available at all stores, but it's worth keeping an eye out.

following in the footsteps of our royal bride, I do rather like the idea of coordinating your bridesmaids with your own dress and having them also in white (or ivory, champagne or whatever you chose for yourself..). summer chic!

I don't actually think the below dress with pleats is so appropriate as a bridemaids suggestions but it would make a great guest outfit (should the bride be ok with you wearing white- best to check first!)

and if you're feeling a slightly more conservative affair, this linen dress from Warehouse is great value right now and comes in 4 colours- taupe-y grey, peppermint, peach and white. I actually really like the idea of using all 4 colours for adult bridesmaids. super elegant and super summer-y!

inspired... high street suggestion- bridesmaids. x

I do love my peachy vintage nude colours so when I found this gorgeous maxi gown at Mango, I had to suggest it as a bridesmaid high street suggestion.

surprisingly it's silk (!) and at £229 it's not exactly cheap but it's definitely a dress that your girls could 'wear again'

(we've heard that one before- how many of us have actually worn a bridesmaids dress again??)

on my travels I also stumbled (... um right..!) into Kurt Geiger

and found these lovely things:

Kurt Geiger £180

they're not my usual taste, but I really loved them!

please excuse the awful iphone pic- they're looking very orange but are actually more coral in reality..

available online here.

I kind of think that these would be amazing for bridemaids with a plain dress!

and there are similar for the bride too:

Kurt Geiger £160

what I do like about them is that the floral trim on both styles is removable and on elastic so the flowers could be positioned in multiple ways including using them as a wrist corsage? I really do love these...

Kurt Geiger available across the UK and online here.

we heart a guest blog for the Boden Community site. x

I was thrilled last week to be asked to write a guest blog for the Boden Community site.
I chose to highlight typical wedding and party scenarios and suggest some of the pieces I think would be great to wear from the latest party and limited ranges at Boden. As a designer for Boden (yes, that's right, that's what I do...!), I was excited to hear that a party range suitable for the wedding season would be offered for SS'11. it's a really pretty range and there's some great dresses for all members of the wedding party (the girls anyway) if you look at the limited selection too.
of my recommendations, my favourite dress is the white limited 'ruffle silk dress'. at £125 I would definitely have considered this if I had been looking for a registry office outfit. without being completely biased, the quality is great as are the details. I love it! x
